CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR ALL 2025 RUNNERS! **SMASHED IT**
The ultimate trail event
The event is hosted with our friends at Chilton Manor Farm – back for 2025 we’re delighted to be hosting two superb routes. With a Race Check Silver Award in 2024 we have our eyes on Gold in 2025 – Join us for a great day on and off the trails.
The 6706m trail route loop starts and finishes on the north side of Godsfield Copse and tracks up the shoulder, passing the trig point on Bugmore Hill and through awesome woodland trails. It’s a stunning and challenging loop.
Backyard ultras are the invention of Gary “Lazarus Lake” Cantrell, who is also one of the founders and race directors of the Barkley Marathons.
Blended’s Backyard is a Bronze Ticket approved event within the Global Backyard Ultra Community.

The Trail
Perfect for seasoned trail runners, ultra runners and those looking to push the boundaries of personal achievement and smash goals. The route is varied -mixed terrain under foot, marked with precision and crafted to engage and inspire.
Our weekend pitch is secluded, and nestled into the edge of Godsfield Copse, with paths formed only by herds of deer.
4.16 miles – In less than one hour
Run the distance of 4.16666 miles in less than one hour, for as many hours as you can.
When each lap is completed, the remaining time within the hour is used to recover for the next hour’s loop. There is no predefined finish.
The winner is the last person to complete a loop, all others are technically DNF (Did not finish). This sounds harsh, we didn’t make the rules, but we do follow them.
The Route
The start and finish of the route is to the northen edge of Godsfield Copse.
The route conditions are variable, field sidings, woodland paths, and some sections of gravel track. Godsfield Copse is the highest point on the route, the overall elevation gain/loss for one lap is approx 120m.
Our route tracks through and around the rural landscape, including Bugmore Hill trig point.
This is a varied and challenging trail.
*Route is subject to change.
The Camp
You’ll be well catered for. Camp facilities include a well stocked table of goodies at the start and finish, we’ll keep this topped up throughout the event along with a plentiful supply of drinking water and squash. There will also be hot food available to purchase at the Yard Cafe. Our event HQ, 24/7 medical support and race timing will also be right next to the start.
After the buzz of the day, supporters and runners can relax in front of the campfire with chilled vibes and music as we head into the twilight hours.
Bring your vans and pop the tops, pitch your tents, put a brew on and kick back. You’ll love the views and sunset from this awesome spot.
About the venue…
Hosted on private land, we are very grateful to our friends at Chilton Manor Farm for co-hosting with us to put on a memorable weekend.
Crafted with the best experience for you in mind, our event camp is neatly tucked into the edge of Godsfield Copse with reaching views over the rolling rural Hampshire landscape. This is a weekend to be at one with nature and dig deep, draw on your training and run, rest, repeat.
As passionate trail runners, and experienced race directors, we’re buzzing to share the ultimate backyard ultra weekend with you.
Leave us a review!
Your feedback means everything to us. As a small, community-led setup, we rely on word of mouth to grow Blended Trails and share what we do with more runners.
Everyone who helped make the 2025 Backyard Ultra happen is a runner, part of the Blended Trails crew, and passionate about the trails we run together.

A great way to be involved.
If you enjoy the buzz of race day and the social aspect of being part of an event then volunteering is a great way to be involved.
Without volunteers we would not be able to organise events, the support that we have is fantastic and is a big part of the runners’ experience of the day.
